To Schloss Sanssouci

The second day of sightseeing in Berlin, I headed to the Sanssouci Palace in Potsdam, a suburb of Berlin.

From Hackescher Markt station to Potsdam station. From the station you can get to the entrance of the palace by bus.

Alongside the Versailles Palace in France and the Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna, it is a famous palace representing Europe, but the buildings are small with other things.

The characteristic of this palace is that the grape hedges are planted in a staircase pattern, so it is really beautiful to look up from the bottom.

The Sanssouci Palace was built by Friedrich II, which pushed Prussia to a powerful state.

Originally planned to make a more gorgeous building, but with instructions from Friedrich II who also participated in the design, it settled down to a small scale with only 12 rooms.

In the sense that there is no sadness, Friedrich II may have wanted to escape the troublesome life in Prussia's capital, Berlin, and to have a quiet time at this palace.

The building is small, but the garden spreading around it is extensive.

The weather was nice on this day, so I could relax and take a walk in the garden.

Residenz in Munich: Ahnengalerie

The Residenz consists of four museums and theaters. Like any palace in any country, this Residenz in Munich also takes half a day to explore the vast interiors. While walking around, I observed that I would stop at an interesting place. The Residenz is the palace of the Wittelsbach family, who ruled Bavaria for many years. The brilliant ancestor gallery is adorned with portraits of those generations of the Wittelsbach family. The city of Munich was developed and developed by the Grand Prince of the Heinrich Lion, who also ruled Saxony, not the Wittelsbach family, as a relay point for salt trade.
