Listen to Nielsen at the Berlin Philharmonic

The program of the day consisted of 3 songs. Bernard Herman Psycho Arnold Schoenberg, a happy hand Carl Nielsen Symphony No.4, The Inextinguishable It is quite unique that the Berlin Philharmonic plays film music in these regular performances, but Simon Rattle is actively working on film music. Herman is a famous film music composer who has also won the Academy Award for composition, but he has composed a number of hitchcocks, especially this psycho. In the Hitchcock movie that he knew too much, he also appeared as a conductor in the climax scene.

To Berliner Philharmoniker

When I came to Berlin, I wanted to hear the performance of the Berlin Philharmonic. Speaking of the Berlin Philharmonic, the name of Herbert von Karajan comes to mind, but in my generation, it is more familiar to the Italian Claudio Abad who succeeded it than Karajan. The  chief conductor was British Simon Rattle. The Berlin Philharmonic is near Potsdamer Platz. There is also a Gemeer de Galerie right next door. The Berlin Philharmonic is also known for its unique music hall, although the music is of course great. The hall, designed by Hans Shaloun in 1963, is very innovative in that the spectator seats are pl...

Gemäldegalerie

Next to Potsdamer Platz is a region called the vast cultural forum. Gemmer de Galerie (painting hall) in it. A collection of Western paintings from the Middle Ages to the 18th century is on display. The collection is based on the collection of Prussian Great Friedrich, and the paintings in Potsdam Palace are part of that collection. A sculpture by Tilman Rimenschneider. His work is immediately recognizable by the expression of that unique person. Work of Lucas Cranach. A mysterious fountain (pool) that anyone can rejuvenate is drawn. Rembrandt's work. The darkness on the left side of the screen and the contrast on the right are beautiful.

At Potsdamer Platz

The area around Potsdamer Platz station was crowded with lots of people. Once there, there was a gate for people from Potsdam to visit the walls of Berlin, and it was called Potsdamer Platz. After World War I, this place developed rapidly with the reconstruction of Germany, becoming one of the most bustling places in Europe as well as Germany. The bombing of the Allied Powers in World War II made the whole city of Berlin a burnt field, and this was near the border between East and West Berlin, making it a long, unbuilt area. The cold war of the east and west ended, and this area has rapidly developed as the remaining land....

Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe

A little south of the Berlin Wall, there is a monument for slaughtered European Jews, commonly known as the Holocaust monument. At first glance, a block of concrete is lined up on the square. Some of the concrete square blocks are low enough for a person to sit like a chair, and some are taller than a person like a demon. This facility was built on the site after the Berlin Wall was demolished and opened on May 12, 2005. The design is by American architect Peter Eisenman, selected by a general competition.

Brandenburg Gate

I came back to the center of Berlin from Potsdam, where the Sanssouci Palace is located. Next visited was the Brandenburg Gate, a tourist attraction representing Berlin. When Berlin was a fortified city, this gate led to the road leading to Brandenburg. Brandenburg is the birthplace of the Prussian kingdom, and this gate following the region was a special part of Berlin. From the gate of Berlin is Unter Linden, which runs through the center of the city of Berlin. Along Unter Linden, Berlin's leading buildings, including the Royal Palace, the Berlin Cathedral, the Opera House and the Humboldt University, are lined up.

Picture gallery of Sanssouci Palace

There is a picture gallery in the Sanssouci Palace. It is a long and narrow building, and when you enter it, the paintings are lined up all over the wall, just like the name. This picture gallery, created between 1755 and 1763, displays the Prussian royal painting collection. Looking up at the top, beautiful decorations come into my eyes. Although it is named a picture gallery, there are also sculptures. In the middle of the building, the Apollon statue and the Diana statue were placed. The paintings are works such as Rubens, Van Dyke, Jordaens, Guido Reni, etc., and the atmosphere is truly a royal collection.
